I was there at the stadium in Birmingham, when the horrific accident happened in front of us. Actually however the scene was far from the Gooners area and no big screen in there, so I could not understand exactly what was going on. Just the treatment on Eduardo was unusually long, so that we just could feel how serious it was. Anyway as I came back to London, I could see everything on the net like the links of this topic or Match Of The Day on BBC.
For me, the Birmingham City defender, Martin Taylor's terribly poor tackle is not forgivable as a professional even if he was not intent to attack or break, but lots of commentators here say even that a red card which Taylor got straight after his foul was too harsh. Recently I am recognising that Arsenal would be a very hated club in this country as like Nick Hornby disclosed on his book, Fever Pitch.
Now the injured Arsenal forward, Eduardo, is reported to be back on the pitch in 9 months. I just hope his complete recovery.

I like the style of English football, which is very physical and full of power. But I think this accident is a different story from the style of football. This kind of tragedy could be happened in football, but it's not true that physical football is allowed to break someone's leg. If you like to have it, I think you have to have a decent skill as well to avoid the sort of accident. It was Taylor's fault, not Eduardo's.
But, I also hope he'll boost his talent through this incident like Pires, exactly!!

I know it's only half on-topic, but most of the reason I never got into soccer is the insane amounts of "simulation". I don't know whether it would help prevent accidents like this one, but I've often thought that they really ought to change the rules a bit for what constitutes a foul in soccer to make simulation less common.
Hmm, I'm not really convinced yet. I feel understanding it was a freak accident makes problems leave behind. But, maybe I'm still traumatised by the very bad day for Arsenal and it was happened in front of me at the stadium.
Ok, let's hope the lads bounce back from it and nicely beat another Birmingham club at home this weekend!! C'mon Arsenal!!
