Hello, I'm Hiro. I work for an computer company in Tokyo. Last week, my boss gave me an assignment that is : to introduce my company. He told me I would give a presentation to other employees. When my friends and I took a English class in the college, we had activities about how to introduce ourselves.
However, I have no experience of introducing a company. So I'd like to ask you advice about a company presentation.
I heard that I should say, name location our biggest markets number of employees language spoken in the company short history vision and so on..
I think what should be covered in the presentation depends on its intended purpose - would that be for new employee orientation? or would that be for existing employees? Anyhow, in either case, you probably want to recall what kind of information were given to you when you first joined your company, and you may find what kind of information you would have wanted at that time.
In general, assuming that you are giving a presentation to new employees, you may want to add things like corporate philosophy, industry outlook, brief introduction of top management team, in addition to what you have listed above (do you really need to mention the language spoken within your company though?).
You may want to look at the English home pages of other companies similar to yours and see what they have written. Many companies have a section of their home paged called "About" or similar, which gives information on their company.
