I was trying to think of synonyms for 'love' that would convey the same meaning that you described above, but none of them really fit. ^.^;;
Maybe: Doesn't saying "love you" suit you better than saying "I love you?"

It's not an exact translation, but for me it seems to capture the feelings that Utada Hikaru is singing about. I suppose this is why they say that translation is an art and not a science. Give the same piece to 10 different people, and you'll get 10 different translations. ^.^
