Well, I'm going to Japan for the first time in the middle of November, sponsored by the Japan Embassy. This might seem crazy, but I am a solo musician, and I was planning on bringing my acoustic guitar with me, and finding some open-mic bar in Tokyo or Osaka, and play a mini-concert. I don't even know if I have to contact the bar in advance to be able to play there, so any advice would be apreciated. Could you point me at websites of open-mic bars, or give any informations that I shjould know about them, since right now I practically nothing.
oh, if it helps, I play acoustic-folk like music, like Nick Drake or singer-songwriter stuff, or even radiohead-style (the quieter songs).... if there's bars that prefer only certain musical styles over others. so my gig is not heavy metal or dance music, mostly quiet songs, some cheerful, some melancholic.
Yep,they still,do.
I think it is not so hard to find places like that in Osaka if they are kinda small bars, cafe or restaurants.Especially if they are internatinal places.
