Hi All

I'd like to share my experience with you all today about mobile phone.

Most of us have mobile phone nowadays. It's very useful to have one but the more we use, the more problems happen. For example you might often see bad users on the train or in public places such as restaurants, cafes, movie theaters.

The other day when I was on the train there was a old man sitting at the priority seat. There were many people standing around there. Some young girls were using their mobiles and emailing in front of the man.

He suddenly shouted at them "Stop using and turn it off!" Girls were surprised. He said "I am carrying a pacemaker."

Although there is a sign "Please turn off your mobile neear the priority seats" but reality is not many people care about it.

Let's talk about this bad manner!
What do you think about it?
What should we try to do?

I have no idea because I don't have a cell phone.
However it is important for anyone to have good manner.
I think we must tell young people what manner is.
I think we need to tell everyone about the cell phone manner more often.
I don't think Japanese mobile companies and train companies mention about it enough. They usually just put a little note or sign.
If you didn't have problems or know someone who had problems like the old man, you wouldn't pay attention about the signs carefully.

For example, at the station, they can play an announcement that says make sure turn off your cell phone near the priority seat.

Young people are usually crazy about something fun.
Even though they didn't mean it, they sometimes did something not right. Their parents or schools should mention the manners too.
However, you can't only blame on young people. Old people do too.
What I think is that whole society have to know how important the cell phone manner is to make everyone happy.
Hi Hide and Yumi,

That is so right isn't it. I think that the announcement on the train is a weak attention to people such as 「携帯のご使用はご遠慮ください。」.

Also older people use mobiles improperly in public.
They should be a good model of manner to young generation but unfortunetely they take the lead in breaking the rule. I often see business men talking loudly with their clients on the train...

I think it's okay to take a call in public if it's emergency or something important but "Make it short and call back when you get off!!"

How difficult would it be to say "I'm on the train right now so I will call you back"?

Around the priority seat "Turn off means Turn off!"

I believe that this is a simple manner we all should understand.

What do you think?
The other day I also had the situetion like that.
Two people sat on the priority seat.
One of two pointed to the other(指を指す?) and said to near people that "this woman had a pacemaker! Please turn off your mobile phone".
That speaker was saying that every time the train stopped the next station.

I think we should turn off the mobile phone near the priority seat.
Though it is natural,we shouldn't forget that if we don't turn off the mobile phone, there are people who have the trouble.
