march 21st 2005, the new album 'HUMAN AFTER ALL' will be available worldwide. It took only 6 weeks, between september and november 2004, for THOMAS BANGALTER and GUY MANUEL de HOMEM-CHRISTO to record the 10 tracks of the new album in their home studio in Paris.
Yes, Daftpunk, like many electronic and hiphop artists, use a lot of samples from old funky songs, as you said "Harder Better Faster Stronger" is from "Edwin Birdsong - Cola Bottle Baby", and "Digital love" from "George duke - I love you more", "One More Time" from "Eddie Johns - More Spell on You"...
Sampling is good, it's the way to create something new. Also it can be difficult to find a good sample. There are millions of old songs to search before finding the good 5 seconds sample to make a song. So this is a long work. I said I was "shock" because I actually know the original song, so then I was surprised and recognised the original sample. I wish they have used it another way, I mean less repeatitively, but it's good.
(don't be sorry for your english, I am sorry for my japanese. I can read better japanese than I write it...皆さん、ごめんなさい).
