Reach MahjongコミュのThanks for Joining!! Introductions.

Wow! Already 25 members on the 3rd day and growing!

I will introduce myself, my name is Jenn and I am a member of the Japan Professional Mahjong League. My friend Garthe and I (also a member but not yet in the community... Lazy dude) want to spread mahjong throughout the world. While that is happening with the Chinese Official Rules, we think that the Reach Mahjong Rules are way more exciting and fun!
And like poker, why does mahjong have to have just one set of rules? We think that all the rules can co-exist freely (^^

So let us know who you are, how long have you been playing mahjong (or what made you want to learn) and also let us know what you would like to see on our website!! This is the site to help YOU learn and stay updated with mahjong, so we need lots and lots of feedback!!!

I'll start:

I am Jenn
I have been playing Mahjong for about 2 and a half years
I want more friends to play mahjong with, especially in English (^^

Hi Jenn
This is the kind of community that I've been looking for. It's fantastic. I've been into Mahjong for as long as I remember, and I've tried many times teaching mahjong to my friends in English, but I realized how tough it was...because there was no instruction manuals in English. So, I'm sure your website will be very helpful for none-Japanese speakers.
Keep it up!

i'm katsura. i've been playing mahjong on and off for about five years. i learned how to play mahjong (still learning) from japanese friends here in silicon valley.

i like the illustration at the reachmahjong.com site. the site currently has some broken links and messed up layouts though.

it would be nice if the site has a mahjong term glossary in english with the original japanese term (maybe a cross reference). is there a "official" english term for each japanese mahjong term?

Hi. I'm Garthe.

I've been learning to play Mahjong for 5 or 6 years now and feel that I'm far enough along to lead astray a whole new generation of mahjong players. If nothing else maybe there'll be some people I can teach some people how to lose to me until they find someone more useful.

I'm originally from California in the US, and studied Computer Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara, one of the best places to live in the world. Certianly the best place to go to school. For this reason, the only thing I ever want to do besides play games like Mahjong, poker, backgammon, etc, is go surfing. So if anyone wants to swing by my house in NakaMeguro to pick up me and my board on their way to Shounan or Chiba, I'd be much obliged.

Happy gaming.

Ooooh, I just remembered, I like snowboarding too. And ping pong. And and and..................

We're over 50 people now so everytime our community number doubles I will check in with an update and answer some questions.

Since we started, we have been adding rules monthly and have already posted a glossary of terms we are using on the page. The glossary will grow with us as we use more and more terms! Also, soon it will be cross-referenced.

Right now we are still working on layout but that is coming secondary to content and since I am not a very good scriptor, it might be a while before the page looks beautiful. If anyone wants to help with scripting....

We are also working on getting Ron2 ready for the world to play, so stay tuned!!!

If you haven't introduced yourself here, be bold and let us know who you are! You are most welcome!!

Hi I'm Junpei:) Nice to meet you all!

I've been looking for English speaking friends and spots so I could enjoy playing mahjong in English! I'd wanted it as one of my dreams is actually to run mahjong club somewhere out of Japan someday (well, seriously)

Sooooo, anyone? Any places or tip??^^
