はじめmして!^^

I've just come across this community by luck!
I think I'm such a lucky girl to find this community since every body here seems to be nice, friendly and not so nervous about making mistakes. :)

I'm going to tell you a bit about myself but just for my relief, let me confess beforehand that I'm still far from perapera while my hubby is Canadian..!!(T-T)
*thank you, my temp fathers..*

Well, I am a bit geekish kind of person as I love to get on anything I'm interested in.
I currently have a strong interest in picking up English language and getting a scuba diving license in particular.

I love learning English through watching movies since I can get the variety of usage as well as the cultural inside jokes!
My favorites are... needless to add 24, Lost, desparate house wives and Family Guy.
*Sawyer's expressions often get a lot of my attention!*

I particularly love expressions concerned with animals, such as "cats have nine lives", "you'd hear the crickets (you'd use it when someone's poor joke is going to get people into shirakeru mood, eh?)" etc..
they are intriguing!!

well.. enough of my rambling for now..
talk to you later and may "the English forth" be with you☆

P.S. あー、すごく時間かかった…(汗
pls correct my errors if any. thanks!

Hi Yonyon. Welcome to the community. And thanks for writing such a nice, long introduction. I think that the more English content that we have in this community, the more chance other members have to just read and learn from their peers. So, thanks!

So you're married to a Canadian, eh? Lucky girl!!! (haha...I'm actually Canadian, too. Aren't we modest? ;) And you want to scuba dive? You should! I actually, had an ear injury the last dive, so it's possible I can't dive any more -- but I LOVE it. In fact, in a travel report I wrote up, I put a picture of my trying to look like Jamese Bond before diving:

Don't laugh, OK.

Anyway, you should get your PADI then start diving in hot places. I've only dived Hawaii, Thailand and the Philippines -- but I'm sure that hot and comfortable diving with excellent visibility is the way to go!

As for errors, there's really nothing to correct. You English is almost perfect!!! The only two points:
1. "You'd hear the crickets" is a bit old. I don't think anybody would use it in a conversation unless they lived in a managed-care home. lol
2. I think you mean, "the English force" -- as in Star Wars, "May the force be with you," right?

OK, welcome to the community!!!!

Mike
thanx for your quick reply, Mike! (^-^)

yeesssss! I'm a quite lucky girl, hehe. as for my husband, I'm not sure about the modesty though..lol
however they are definitely nice and lovable. :)

so, you've been diving around those lovely islands as in the pics..?
gee.., wish I were there... I bet it was fun!
which island was the best for its visibility?

I'm happy to find something in common with you, but at the same time, I feel sorry for you about the ear injury...
is it common to get injured under the water..?
anyways, hope you get better soon.

Oh yeah? I thought it is OK since Owen Wilson was using it in the movie "wedding crashers"...
maybe it's way out of date such as a "がちょーん" kind of thing here..?

yep. now you can tell how geekish I am, eh? lol
I was only in one place for diving in PI -- Sabang in Puerto Galera. The visibility was fantastic. But actually, I got the ear injury in Thailand. I had a temporary dive instructor, and we were diving with a young kid from Sweden who was a good diver, but kind of afraid of the bottom. So he kept going from 15 meters up to 3 meters and back down again. I didn't want to follow him, but my instructor insisted that I stay with my dive buddy. I did -- and I got a barotrauma in my ear that caused internal bleeding. So be careful.

Two things:
1. Don't let your instructor make you feel like you have to rush to your dive depth. If it takes 10 minutes to get to 10 meters, take 10 minutes.

2. Don't go up and down. Go down to depth, then work your way back up. More than 10 meters, you can go up and down easily, but less than 10 meters, try not to go up and down too much, as the pressure change is significant and can hurt your ears :)
ahhhh... somehow, seems like I misunderstood it like you'd dived in some other places as my mixi friend had just told me about his dives in some places then...
oh well... I surely am aging...
sorry about that...(。-人-。)

Actually, Ive heard that my brother-in-law too had an ear injury by water pressure before although it doesn't seem as serious as yours...
thanx for your advice. I'll keep that in mind.

P.S. I really like the name of the community, BTW.

Thanks!

As for diving, just Hawaii, Thailand and the Philippines. As for aging, join the club!!! lol
