We spoke about various education related topics such as how to motivate children, the subjects we think should or shouldn't be taught in school and more! You were all great!
To those who couldn't make it and those who could, please feel free to post here your feelings about the education system in Japan.
Also you can ask me any questions you like or critique my lesson style etc. Japanese or English is ok here, but be aware that if you write in kanji i will have to use a translator to read it!
I joined the class first time. So,I was very nervous at the beginning.
But,Even my poor English, I enjoyed COCOCHI de English.
Today's theme “Education" is the very timely topic for me.
My son is 17 now.
When he was a elementary school student, he enjoyed English class
taught by native speaker like you.
Therefore, He still likes english now.
So, it's very important that native speaker teach kids english conversation.
Althogh I agree “Yutori Kyouiku" , English conversation class is essential for Japanese education.
Thanks for coming along today - i'm still amazed you have a 17 year old son - you look so young! But it was a pleasure teaching you! I'd love to meet your son sometime!
Hello Lucas,
It's really regrettable that I missed yesterday's lesson... The topic was very timely for me!
My eldest daughter just entered elementary school and I'm now struggling how I can motivate her! Especially when the other 2 kids are around, it's difficult for her to concentrate on her study.
I really enjoyed yesterday's class! Thank you Lucas and all. On education, I had so many things I wanted to tell, but it was difficult to tell my opinion to somebody. Exchanging opinions is totally different from regular conversation! I also realized how much I usually relied upon dictionaries. It was hard to find the correct words and expressions to explain what I felt. Well, it was a great, challenging experience. Thanks again.
I think it's important to keep communication between kids and parents everyday.
Their motivation might start from such a communication.
Japanese proverb say
「やって見せ、言って聞かせてさせてみて、ほめてやらねば人は動かじ」.
“ First, show the sample of a action, second, explain the ground for this action to them and next let them do it,
And if you don't make a compliment for their good action, they wouldn't do it."
Parents should do it.
Anyway, some topics of My son and me are soccer, fashon, music and study.
But he never open his mind for the topic of “love”.
