This tiny café is in a windswept, industrial-feeling part of King’s Cross, but brave the dust storms and juggernauts because it’s a cute little joint. The lunch menu is short but interesting, offering salads and quiches, plus more unusual dishes such as fennel soup or mackerel escabèche – the cool, lightly spiced, marinated flesh served heaped on chunky toast. Sandwich fillings are hearty and appealing and include the likes of roast pork loin; aïoli and little gem lettuce; or ox tongue with grain mustard and rocket. Tiramisu was vast and alcoholic. Prices are more than reasonable.
