On Saturday(10-11-08), I bought a Halloween flashlight at Target, for Sal. A few hours later, it short-circuited and the batteries started melting. Sal is OK, I am lightly burned, but the acid and melting plastic destroyed the surface of my coffee table. The flashlight is from Target. It is a child’s toy, ages 4 and up. It is called ‘flashlight with stencils’ and cost is $2.50. It has a black shaft, and orange top, and has 5 caps to put on the light to make different shapes. And of course, it is made in China. Target was very responsive to my situation but still has not pulled the flashlights off the shelves. BUYER BEWARE! It’s not an urban legend.
