STEREOTYP (CRUNCHTIME, KLEIN, G-STONE from Vienna) Stefan Moerth aka Stereotyp
Stefan Moerth, better known to the music world as Stereotyp, is a hardcore producer. And by this I don't mean that the man makes Hardcore music, which he often does, but that his life is all about producing. Stereotyp tours seldom, rarely does interviews, and 90% of his time is spent in the studio. As a result his tracks are meticulously crafted and filled with micro-sonic details that peel away and reveal themselves in complex layers only after repeat listening. An average Stereotyp production is mind-blowing to say the least, and any DJ that had a chance to test his work in a club environment will testify to this fact. Every Stereotyp beat is bass heavy, 5th element type futuristic, and sonically altered. And this goes for all genres Moerth retouches and updates, be it Dancehall, Hip Hop or Soul - and he done touched them all. His now classic G-Stone debut entitled My Sound (2002) was a foray into the future of Dancehall and Soul music. With this release Moerth showed the possibilities of a sonic future that is still due to arrive. Many remixes later, he paired up with Al Haca and dropped, what could be one of the most advanced takes on Dancehall and Hip Hop on the market today - the Phase III (2004) LP released by Klein Records. Just the collabos alone speak for the weight of the Stereotyp Opus. Some of the voices that touched his instrumentals belong to legends such as: Cappadonna (Wu Tang Clan), Daddy Freddy, Hubert Tubbs (Tower of Power), Lady Saw, Hawk Eye, Ras B and Spectacular - to name a few. Just for the record - Stereotyp still lives in Vienna, where he continues to offend the local, but yet internationally renowned Down-tempo scene by pushing a sound Vienna is not yet recognized for. He travels to New York regularly only to get a sandwich and a Snapple Ice Tea from a bodega he likes very much - no joke. And to add a little twist to it all, his studio is located in what used to be a wine cellar, and is currently populated by a total of eight cats and a dog, and always stocked with some premium liquor and quality herb. The new Stereotyp record will be released by Kruder and Dorfmeister's G-Stone Recordings some time in September of TWO OH OH SICK!!!!

AL-HACA (CRUNCHTIME RECORDS, KLEIN, ROUGH TRADE from Berlin) Christian Schwanz aka AL-HACA's CEE
THIS TIME AROUND THE MISSION IS TO GET PERSONAL … There are things in this world that are hard to define because they are liquid or like particles in quantum physics they change their position the moment you think you got them on lock _ that's the nature of the crew known as Al Haca. 10 years ago Al Haca were a soundsystem collective that played everything from Dub, Punk through the various shades of Electronica around Germany. One bass heavy day they were discovered by the members of Rockers Hi-Fi and a remix for the tune "Killah" (Different Drummer) was released. The track became an instant underground classic. The man they called Cee continued to produce until Inevitable (Different Drummer), the debut Al Haca LP,was released. The record featured vocal luminaries such as Sizzla, Ras T-Weed,but also a little known emcee by the name of RQM. Coldcut listened to the LP, added a few tracks to his radio playlist and the crew went international. Cee and RQM started touring together to showcase the re-lease. And the rest they say is history. Cee's sharp production skills caught the ear of respected Viennese bass surgeon Stereotyp around this time. Under Klein they released "Stereotyp meets Al Haca Phase I,Phase II and Phase III ". Featured alongside RQM were the voicesof Daddy Freddy,Ras B,Harry Toddler,Lady Saw,Cesar Sampson,Spectacular, and host of others. The releases were instant success, which further put the Al Haca team on the map. Gilles Peterson not only played Blaze'N Cook on his Radio 1 show, he even nominated it for his Single of the Year. Sharing stages with the likes of Peter Kruder,Modeselektor,Roni Size,Nicolette,M.I.A.,the crew managed to break into the UK,tour the US,and even made it out to Asia. During this streak of creativity RQM managed to record tracks with Robot Koch, the producer of Berlin favorites Jahcoozi. The Tape vs RQM released their debut LP entitled Autoreverse on Kitty Yo Records. Rolling Stone welcomed the project with a 4 star rating and Maryanne Hobbes gave them the Breezeblockslot on her Radio1 show, calling RQM Ågone of my favorite voices.ÅhA tour supporting The Stereo Mcs followed. With the Jahcoozi, and the Tolcha debut LPsunder his belt, RQM was _nally a vocal contributor to be reckoned with. The latest Al Haca offering, Family Business, is a culmination of a decade oflinks and ties made during their sonic journey. On production duty alongside Cee is the Tolcha beat surgeon known as Rasda, while the Executive Producer controls are held down by Stereotyp.Led by RQM, the army of choice vocalists contributing megatons of soul include Coppa,Oliver Grimball,Hubert Tubbs,Sandra Kurzweil,Cesar Sampson,FEFE,Patrizia Ferrara and Vera B_hnisch aka L'Lenfant Terrible.
