Hello, I'd like to know about an electronic dictionary.
My friend wants to buy an electronic dictionary to learn Japanese. (He just learned 400-600 Kanji characters.) He asked me which one is better? but i could not tell him at that time, cause each electronic dictionaries have many features and I am Japanese, so I don't know which features are important for serching Japanese/Kanji. I might miss out "learning Japanese" view.
Could anyone give me(us?) advice for buying an electronic dictionary to learn Japanese?
i have a pretty good idea!
do you have a Nintendo DS?
rather than spending $200-$400 on an electronic dictionary, you
could just spend $40-$50 on a Japanese Dictionary DS game!
i heard this is a good one and easy to use:
Kanji Sonomama DS Rakubiki Jiten
you can buy this on eBay for about $40-$50.
you'll save alot of money!! ^__^v
If your friend has a Palm PDA, I'd suggest installing PADict http://padict.sourceforge.net/
It's free, based on edict, and the interface is in English.
Dedicated electronic Japanese-English dictionaries are designed for Japanese learners of English, so the interface is in Japanese.
Hello,
Thank you for information.
you are so kind.
DS, Yes I have a DS, but now my father is using it.
I can not tell him "kaeshite kudasai", because he really enjoy playing games with DS. (he is in hospital now)
my friend in abroad doesn't have DS, (but he has a Wii) and he can not find them yet.
I will try to play some japanese kanji games including Kanji Sonomama DS Rakubiki Jiten. but anyway i will ask my father to return it at first. ;-)
PADict。
oh it's wonderful, and we can get whole source codes!
and it is free.
