As you probably have noticed, I post some words daily... My idea is to have people practice their Japanese/English just a bit each day. What I'm hoping is that we can have people both practice in their non-native language and teach people in their native language simultaneously so that everyone can benefit. I'm going to change the included instructions to the following:
"Brain exercises: Post two sentences. For the first, make a sentence in Japanese using the word. For the second, give the English equivalent of your first sentence. Take a moment to correct or comment on others' sentences, too!"
I think that is a good idea to encourage both English and Japanese speakers to use the non-native language. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to practice my crappy English ;) Ok, I'll correct your Japanese sentence.
Your original sentence is fine but sounds a bit foreign with some small mistakes, so I changed a little. But actually, I'm not sure how to say 'Brain exercises' in Japanese... 脳の体操?頭の運動?or something else???
Nahhhhh!! not at all, Tomo-san!! I was sure there must have been some better expressions for 'brain exercises' but I couldnt think of anything else and was hoping that somebody would give some nice examples. And when I read your comment, I thought 脳トレ was just right for that! But I was away from Japan for a while this year and didnt know much about so-called 流行語, so I just wondered maybe people would no longer say 頭の運動?? or like that.
