The Japanese University Football Team will be visiting Adelaide from 31st Aug until 4th Sept. During their visit to Adelaide, they have managed to organise a friendly match against the Modbury Football Club on 3rd of September, Friday night! This game is not about who wins or loses but for everyone to realise that Aussie Rules Football has been spread overseas. Have you ever imagined Aussie Rules Football being played in many foreign countries? After 152 years of history, more than 16 countries play and Japan is one of them!
The Aussie Rules Football is not a popular sport in Japan, and there are only a few hundred people who would know what Footy is. The Japanese Footy players have only played for about a year or two, and most of them have never played a real match. What I mean by that is, some of the Japanese players have never played football in Australia. (Japan doesn’t have a large oval therefore they could have only 10 players on the field, they have never played with 18 players, don’t have Australian Coach etc)
This year, the Japanese team only has 15 players, so you may be able to play for their team. If you are interested to play, you need to contact Yuki ASAP and attend the trainings. There will be a lot of spectators and a BBQ at the club!!! Come with your mates and have a good night together!
When: 3rd September, Friday 6:30pm Where: Modbury Sports Reserve Corner of Golden Grove Rd & Hazel Grove
Public transport: From the city, Catch G40 or 548 Stop at 45, or catch any bus that goes to Tea Tree Plaza and walk from there.
