I've been collecting errors and mistakes of my English.
Background: ・I studied Second Language Acquisition at the university. ・I want to apply what I learned to my English learning at NOVA. ・I like to take notes because I forget without doing it.
The purpose: To develop accuracy of my English and acquire native sense.
The difference between errors and mistakes: Errors ・・・× Knowledge (Learners can’t correct them.) "Errors reflect gaps in a learner's knowledge; they occur because the learner does not know what is correct ."[Ellis,Rod] Mistakes ・・・× Performance (Learners can correct them.) "Mistakes reflect occasional lapses in performance; they occur because , in a particular instance, the learner is unable to perform what he or she knows."[Ellis,Rod]
Situation: ?Have planning time → Less mistakes ?Have no planning time → More Mistakes
The methodology: <Lessons & VOICE> 1.Notice the gap Target Language ⇔ Interlanguage (Native speakers’ English) (My English)
2.Take notes in the back page of my notebook
3.Sort them into Errors & Mistakes.
<Notice the gap> ★By myself ★From Input ★From teachers’ feedback
Consequences: ØDon’t make the same mistakes. ØCan remember new words & natural English ØLessons are fun! ØGood reminder.
