現在友人と英語雑誌のタイムを使って英語の勉強会をしているのですが、drone armiesの訳し方で意見が分かれました。前後の文脈は下記の通りです。
I planned to put the Reuters guy out of business, own some kind of island where DRONE ARMIES did my bidding and force people to follow laws based on my insane whims.
ちなみに、記事は最近海外で流行っているSECOND LIFEに取材者が初挑戦した体験談を語るものです。ヴァーチャルな世界では生殖器もお金を出さなければ取り付けできないので、筆者は初めて絶え間ない性的欲求から解放され、そこで初めて権力を求めるということに精力を注ぐことができるようになった、という文の後に上記文章が続きます。
そこで、drone armiesですが、私は、それを「あくせくはたらく群衆」という用に訳しました。
が、友人は「小型無人飛行機の軍隊」と訳しました。
droneは１a雄バチbのらくら者c<口>あくせくはたらく者
armyは１軍隊２組織的団体３大勢、大群

My friend and I are studying English together using TIME and we were divided over a phrase "drone armies." The phrase appears in the following context.

For your information, the article is about SECOND LIFE which is recently becoming popular among overseas and the writer, who is a beginner, tells his expericence in its virtual world. Which meant that for the first time, I would be able to focus all my energy on a quest for power."
Now about DRONE ARMIES. I pictured people doing dull work, while my friend thought a group of airplanes which don't have pilots inside, or operated by radio.
What do you imagine with DRONE ARMIES in above context? I'm looking forward to hearing your opinions.
