Japanese American Social Services, Inc. (JASSI) is a social service agency serving the Japanese and Japanese American community in the Greater New York area since 1981. The director reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the overall operation of agency programs, staff supervision, budgeting as well as developing funding resources.
Director’s responsibilities include: • Oversee the operation of the agency programs and its services. • Develop funding resources. • Supervise staff in each of the programs and its daily operations. • Represent the agency to outside agencies and the public. • Work closely with the Board and act as a liaison between the staff and the Board. • Speak on issues affecting the Japanese and Japanese American community. • Write reports (reports on grants, testimonies, etc.). • Assist clients in social service matters. • Work with staff and volunteers to carry its services as needed. • Recruit and develop volunteers.
Qualifications: • Degree in human service field, advanced degree a plus. • Minimum two years experience in social service administration and community work. • Excellent writing, oral, and interpersonal skills. • Excellent organizational skills. • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously • Bilingual English-Japanese preferred • If non-U.S. citizen, must have work authorization
