PHILIP NORMAL
The creative genius of Philip Normal lies in his ability to create sub-worlds within the fashion genre, subverting and questioning the boundaries of acceptable clothing. His unique take on wearable shapes, prints and creative processes incorporate humour and style with panache.
With his modernistic approach he reappraises the
mainstream. Like a cultural magpie, 'I invent cult images and iconic prints', he reinvents and reflects, with some irony, the age we live in. Normal is extraordinary in that he taps the mundane and combines the advantguarde, 'customisation and unique pattern cutting ensure no two pieces are the same'. Like some seemingly random conclusion, his pieces work and move with the body, his artistic eye visualises and alters the silhouette of the wearer, enhancing movement of cloth, drape and adornment. At 23 years old and with a BA Hon's Degree behind him Normals creative potential is apparent.
