On Feb. 23, we had a monthly meeting with the Vietnamese-born Thanh Nguen of San Francisco Chapter of Ikebana International and a past President as our featured guest and she demonstrated "Hana Kubari" arrangement. Nguyen who is a teacher of the Wafuu School and the Sogetstu School performed a great demonstration being helped by her four students and she presented ten examples of Ikebana without using any mechanism like Kenzan or "frogs". Delicate balancing act of arranging flowers was very interesting and inspiring to watch.
Her demonstration was concluded by arranging Plums, King Pines and Kerrias into the iron tall vases on the floor to celebrate the lunar calendar New Year observed in China and Vietnam with a final touch of adding white fans.
