Translation editor is a contract position reporting to the Manager of Technical Communications and working closely with the Translation Project Manager, both in the Documentation Group. This position entails comparing English-language source documents against their Japanese-language translations, identifying translation mistakes, and fixing the mistakes.
This position will start out as half-time (20 hours/wk), with the possibility of increased hours over time. On-site work is highly desired for an initial period, after which telecommuting is possible.
Required qualifications include:
* Five years of technical translation experience * Detail-oriented * Deadline-oriented * Strong MS Word skills * Exceptionally strong Japanese-writing skills * Exceptionally strong English-reading skills * Permission to work in the United States (visa support not provided) * Flexibility: the ability to adjust priorities as required
Desired qualifications include:
* Software engineering background, especially in C, C++ or other object-oriented language and/or networking * Experience in editing for terminology and style integrity * Understanding of the documentation-localization process
