Although Interpol has yet to deliver its fourth album, drummer Sam Fogarino is staying plenty busy making music. In addition to playing with his myriad bands, the Athens, Ga., resident has lent his talents to an unorthodox project: working with hometown trapeze studio Canopy to score their upcoming Fractured Fairytales show.

"A preview to Canopy’s show this weekend with music composed for us by Sam Fogarino, drummer for Interpol. He’s done an incredible job ― you’ll hear some of his music on the video."

"New Yorkers had already announced on their website www.interpolnyc.com last week, is now official, the eponymous fourth album Interpol released on September 13 Soft Limit, the new label created by the group, Cooperative Music licensed in the world (excluding the Americas)."
Snazzy New York City rockers Interpol played their first show since 2008 Monday night at Rochester, NY's 1,300-person capacity Water Street Music Hall, where the band debuted not just two new members -- but also tracks from their self-titled fourth album, out September 13.
Performing as a five-piece with the Secret Machines' Brandon Curtis on keyboards and Slint/Tortoise/Zwan/Yeah Yeah Yeahs member David Pajo on bass (replacing founding low-ender Carlos Dengler, who recently exited to pursue a career in film), Interpol opened their 100-minute set with a menacing new song titled "Success." They played with a well-rehearsed precision, like it was their 100th show together as a quintet, as they debuted newbies like "Lights" and "Summer Well," which leaned even further towards atmosphere and mood than the rest of their set.
Pajo and Curtis held their end admirably. Pajo's thick, rich bass tone anchored tracks like "Obstacle 1." Later, as he plucked the rumbling low end on "NYC," from the band's debut Turn on the Bright Lights, the venue reverberated as the band's lush, layered sound swelled. Curtis' escalating keyboard runs gave emotional resonance to the interlocked riffs of frontman Paul Banks (pictured above) and lead guitarist Daniel Kessler.
