衆生ダーリンのみなさま！
先週、ホンコンからペンバ師をお迎えして、すばらしい気づきの時を過ごしました。ペンバさん、お話は面白く、みんなを大笑いさせましたが、同時にたゆまず修行することの大切さを、しっかり胸に届けてくださいました。私のお気に入りは、一切衆生を“ダーリン”として扱うこと。これを忘れずに行動するため、メールの呼びかけにダーリンを使っています。ペンバさんの説法はドガクスンジュクのウェブサイトで音声ファイルを公開する予定です。お楽しみに。英語で日本語通訳つき。
前回の在宅読経会の１１月１７日、２６名参加してサンガータ・スートラを１３巻読了。ジーン・チェンさんが家族やお友達１６人を誘って１１巻を読了なさいました。
１２月の読経会第１回は１２月７日です。師走で皆様お忙しいでしょうから、時間は決めませんので、ご都合に合わせて読経してください。テキストをお持ちの方は、金光明経、或いはサンガータ・スートラを読みます。
１２月６日の夜までに、参加するかどうか、お経の種類とともに、お知らせください。
ペンバさんに、修行の機会を増やすように勧められました。これについては皆様にご提案したいことがあります。別便にてご案内する予定です。

Japan recently had the honor of hosting Venerable Tenzin Pemba from FPMT’s Hong Kong center. What a treat! Venerable Pemba’s humorous, yet thought provoking teachings had us laughing and at the same time taking to heart the importance of our practice. One simple, yet valuable teaching was treating all sentient beings as our “darlings.” To help train my mind, I try to use “darling” in my salutations. Maybe it will serve as a reminder for you, too. (We hope to post Ven. Pemba’s teachings in English with Japanese translation on our work-in-progress website http://
At our last virtual reading on November 17, there were 26 of us who read 13 Sanghata Sutras. Wonderful! Many thanks to Jean Chen and her 16 family and friends who read 11 sutras!
Our next English reading of the Sutra of Golden Light and the Japanese reading of the Sanghata Sutra (Jean, please choose which you would like to read) will be this Wednesday, December 7. Since it’s a busy month for everyone around the world, please read whenever you can on that day.
Venerable Pemba encouraged us to do more practice. I’ll be writing you soon about a suggestion of a simple practice that we might be able to practice together, in addition to the sutra readings.
