SOLO PRODUCTION: BEYRUT is BURNING
(Cape Town launch 18 May, BAXTER Concert Hall, 7:45pm, tickets R100)
Sensational dance, poetry, swords, veils and stories from the fiery heart of the Middle East. From Ancient Egypt to modern day Lebanon, meet the characters that move history with tales of love, revenge, honour and deceit. A melange, inspired by Beverley’s stay in, and evacuation from Lebanon in July 2006. Fast moving, bone-chilling, heart-racing fusion and traditional Arabic dance theatre.

- Production “BEYRUT is BURNING”
- “AFRICAN LOTUS” tour launch. Beverley brings her percussionist, Gavin Bonner, for an intimate cabaret exploring tradition and fusion from Arabia, India and Africa. This jam-packed show flows with a multitude of percussion, vocals and new bridging ideas in performance space/sound with strong style influence from the Middle East. The show presents many crossovers between gypsy, classical, cabaret and trance.

JULY: Durban and Bostwana!
In Durban I will be hosted by Senta Seele’s Maya Dance School faeriering@polka.co.za
In Botswana I will be hosted by Lee Anne Nordin’s Delta Bellies nordin@info.bw

AUG-SEP – London is calling me! No theatre dates yet, but I will definitely teach a Nubian Dance workshop.

NOVEMBER: EGYPT!
I plan to take a small group to Egypt for some weeks of shopping, holistic healing and bathing in the Nile. This will coincide with the Nile Group festival offering dancers the opportunity to participate in this awesome week of workshops with Cairo’s most respected teachers. I am still compiling a price guide so bear with me… NB I will offer a budget rate and a certainly unique experience. Travelling with me is something you will feel in your gut you want to do. If so, let me know. And I will keep you posted!
