Said Zeedani is Vice President for Academic Affairs and professor of philosophy at Al-Quds University in East Jerusalem, Palestine. Previously he has served as Director General of the Palestinian Independent Commission for Citizens' Rights and as Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Bir-Zeit University. He has taught about and pu blished numerous articles, essays and research papers on the Palestine/Israel conflict, liberal democracy, human rights (theory and practice), the Palestini ans inside Israel, politics and ethics, and aesthetics. In 2003 he edited a bo ok in Arabic about the oriental Jews in Israel.
Walid Salem is an independent senior consultant with 15 years experience working within Pa lestinian civil society. He has seasoned research and evaluation experience w ithin the democracy sector in the West Bank and Gaza. Has contributed to over 15 books and published more than 30 booklets and papers on the Palestinian pol itical environment. In addition, he has developed and produced numerous train ing guides on civic education and participation, and lectured and participated in international trainings and workshops on democratic participation and poli tical environment within West Bank and Gaza.
Mario Sznajder is the Leon Blum Professor of Political Science at the Department of Political Science and Research Fellow at the Harry S Truman Institute for the Advanceme nt of Peace of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He has carried out research in political theory on the origins of Fascist ideology and its worldwide vari ations and on democratization and the legacy of human rights violations in Lat in America. He is author and editor of a number of books on the above subjects and also of many scientific articles. A certain amount of his research is ded icated to Israeli and Middle Eastern politics and to political anti-Semitism.
Eyal Ben-Ari is professor of anthropology at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology o f the Hebrew University. He has carried out fieldwork in Japan, Israel and Sin gapore. His main areas of research are early childhood education and the study of the military. He has written about and researched social and cultural aspe cts of the Israeli military, the Japanese Self-Defense Forces and peace-operat ions in the Middle-East. He is now completing a book about Israeli ground forc es in the conflict with the Palestinians.
