Julia Misawa and Boulder Taiko HIBIKI conduct a first taiko workshop/demo in spring 2012. The challenge and the beauty of taiko stems from the combination of percussion, dance and martial art. As in martial art study, Boulder Taiko's teaching method and essence is based upon the four basic elements, Mind, Skill, Body and Manner.
This workshop is designed for beginner, advanced beginner and intermediate level. All students will learn the basic grip, three different stances including (1) a regular stance, (2) Sukeroku-stance(side way), and (3) O-taiko stance(taiko on a tall stand: you'd beat the drum above your eye level), besides basic drumming techniques and a song, and movement prior to practicing fundamental drills to learn basic drumming techniques.

Date: Saturday, 03/31/12
Time: 1-3pm (door open at 12:30pm)
Cost: *$18 includes rental a pair of bachi. (drum sticks) for 2 hours workshop including demo and performance.(Early reservation recommended)
*$18 registered and paid or a mail stamp dated by 3/24, and then it will cost $25 after 3/24, however, the early bird for your friends and families have been extended until Wednesday March 28th.
If you're currently taking a class or two, it's $10 as a member discount.

*Carol Conigliaro, Licensed Acupuncturist, will be offering sample sound healing sessions using Acutonics. Acutonics is a sound healing system using tuning forks directly on acupuncture points to harmonize energy flow and vitalize energy in the body. Sessions will take place after the taiko workshop.
