Dear everyone,

I wanted to invite you to a Japanese documentary film showing at Sanshinji/Sanshin Zen Community this Saturday, April 20. The showing is twice, 2PM and 7PM. The title is 'The Miracle of the Gifted Quarter'
This film has been shown over 1400 times to 120,000 people in Japan and other countries since 2007. It's non-profit showing with $8 charge. All proceeds go to the film maker and the organization in Japan. It is deeply inspiring stories of a teacher, Katsuko Yamamoto and her students at school for children with special needs.
The word, 'Quarter' in the title came from the biological research on the connection between Sickle Cell Disease and Malaria.
In order for half of the population in a village in Africa to survive Malaria AND live without SCD , the 1/4 of people with the impairment must have appeared at the same time.

A life scientist says the genetic issue is not private matter but those people with impairments and disease appear at a rate in our society. They have taken the hardship in lieu of the other people. The quarter of the people are taking the roll, and there's an important meaning to it.

Katsuko's student, Yukie completely accepted, thanked and loved herself with MS and died. Yukie was rejoiced by hearing this story and before she past away she made Katsuko promise that she would make efforts with all her might to let everyone in this world to know this fact, and make it a common knowledge of all people.

The film maker, Fumiko Irie had a life changing experience and started to make this film with a mission to increase the amount of gratitude in the universe.

I believe I encountered this movie for a reason, and that is to learn myself something so precious, and to pass it to other people. I hope you can come and discover your own reason why you are reading about this movie now:-)
