Featuring James Baxter, Andreas Deja, Pete Doctor, Erik Goldberg
Its no secret that Walt Disney and his “Nine Old Men,” as he termed his then-youthful group of key animators, inspired many of those who eventually found careers in motion picture animation. What’s not as well known are the conscious, dedicated efforts of these men and others to personally hand down the unique art of animation to new generations through direct training at CalArts and other programs.
In an onstage panel discussion, James Baxter, Andreas Deja, Pete Docter and Eric Goldberg will spotlight the mentors who fostered their professional development, as well as provide insights into their individual approaches to their art. The celebration will include clips from the masters’ work that inspired each of the panelists, and from the panelists’ work reflecting that inspiration.
