Wiimbledon 2008 --> Barcade in Brooklyn, June 7th, 10am-5pm
It's a time-honored maxim that when one door closes, another opens; for proof, look no further than Michael Milken (who parlayed prison time into philanthropy) and Brigitte Nielson (who parlayed Sylvester Stallone into Flavor Flav). As for us, we're not going to San Francisco after all, but we are giving you free beer.
For personal and professional reasons (we have full time jobs, one of us lost his driver's license), Wiimbledon's not going to make it to San Francisco this year. Yes, that's chock full of fail. We'd like nothing more than to fly one of you yahoos out to SF and kick it west coast style. But in recompense, we're blowing out Brooklyn Wiimbledon (still set for Saturday, June 7th, at Barcade) in better-than-ever, high-stepping style. A few glorious details:
Open bar, sponsored by Brooklyn Brewery. Your friendly neighborhood BB is providing three hours of free beer at Barcade, 12 noon until 3pm.
Prince tennis apparel, rackets, and sneakers for winners.Prince is sponsoring some of the prizes for this year's tournament. Winners get mad swag.
Brunswick Wii Bowling Bags for winners. Some winners will also receive rad baggage.
More info on prizes and such to come. If you or someone you know would like to sponsor prizes, drop us a line.
We're also proud to announce that Wiimbledon is an official event partner with NY's first-ever Internet Week, alongside well-steezed folks like The Onion, Comedy Central, Yelp, and Flavorpill, just to name a few.
