Okay, campers, we’ve got wonderful weather coming up this weekend, so, as is our custom for the first Saturday of the month, a 30km beginners’ ride out to Haneda. Forecast is for 17 degrees and sunny, so be prepared for the possibly frightening sight of some winter-white knees showing below recently mothballed cycling shorts. Start at the Grand Hyatt at Roppongi Hills at 11:00 a.m., back by 3:00, as we’ll want to stay a while and soak up some of that vitamin D. Slow and easy. Anyone can do this ride.
Then on Sunday (15 degrees and mostly sunny), those wishing something more challenging than usual will meet Mike at the Hyatt at 8:50 a.m. for a 9:00 SHARP departure for Mt Takao. 127 km, back supposedly by 6:00. Make sure you have a working head lamp and tail lamp. Details were sent to you earlier this week.
HOWEVER, those who do not wish to do the entire distance can join me at the Hyatt at 9:45 for a 10:00 SHARP departure for Tokyo Station, where we will bag our bikes and board the 11:06 Chuo line train (starts at Tokyo) for the one-hour train ride to Takao. There we will join up with the round-trip group, climb the 400m (up) hill (or not) with them, and do the second half of the ride back to Tokyo as previously described. Which would be about 60-70km.
Something for everybody.
And don’t forget our monthly gathering at The Pink Cow on Wednesday the 7th. We’ll discuss some other long-distance rides and races coming up in the next weeks and months, and kick around some ideas for Half-Fast team jerseys.
Keep the pedal to the, well, to the pedal.

Ciao for now.
If I’ve forgotten anything or if you want to get a message to the group, just email me and I’ll forward it along.
