Vinaka！勝ちました〜。

余裕で勝ちました。

手こずりましたね〜。sereviサマ様でした。

ゴーリングスの抜けた、弱小Englandにまさかの敗退！
プールAは二勝一杯が３チームと得失点差で、1/4 final Cup に上がる事ができた。
ハラハラもんでした。
South Africa 17 - 22 Fiji
このゲームは、最悪！負けるかと思った。
そこで、こりゃいかんとsereviが途中出場し、後半終了３分前くらいから２トライで、追いついた。
それもフルタイム後のセレビのトライ！
クロスバーも難なく決めて同点、サドンデスとなる。
キックオフ後数分で、SAがノックオンとフィジーボールになり、ライダーにボールが廻る。
ライダー全快で左サイドに決勝トライ！
New Zealand 17 - 24 Fiji
名門NZだが、負ける気がしなかった。
SA戦の決勝トライで、足を痛めたライダーの変わりにセレビがスタメン出場！
ライダーも後半出てきて、「やっぱり勝ったな！」って感じ。
Samoa 7 - 21 Fiji
ファーストトライはされたものの、このところ分が悪いサモアに以外に簡単に勝てたのが、尻上がりに良くなったフィジーって感じでした。
それにしても今回は運も見方にしたかも･･･

WAISALE Serevi says he wants to continue as the national rugby sevens coach and player until the 2009 Sevens World Cup.
It is one of the proposals he has put before the Fiji Rugby Union Board.
He made known his plans yesterday after he heard reports the FRU board wanted to sack him as the player/coach of the national sevens team.
"Yes, I had asked the board for me to continue as coach/player until the 2009 World Cup," he said.
"You can check my fitness results with the fitness experts and with that on par I see no reason why I should stop playing now."
On the news of his possible sacking, he said he had not been officially told by the FRU. "I haven't heard anything yet from the FRU so it'll only be right for me to comment once I have a confirmation on the fact that my services are no longer needed," he said.
FRU board member Rafaele Kasibulu declined to comment on the board's decision on Thursday but said the FRU wanted to talk to Serevi first. He said an official statement would be released once Serevi was informed. But a FRU official, who asked not to be identified, said: "Unofficially, he (Serevi) is no longer the coach. It has nothing to do with the proposal he put before us but there are other issues."
Serevi, who broke into the world stage in March 1989 at the Sydney and Hong Kong Sevens and had been representing the country since, said he was also not happy with the six-month ban slapped on William Ryder, Etonia Naba and Lepani Nabuliwaqa for drinking liquor during the last leg of the IRB Sevens Series.
"Firstly, these players did not drink liquor prior to the quarter-finals in Scotland when we lost to Wales," Serevi said.
"They had a couple of beers after the final of the London Sevens which is normal for all rugby players. To slap a six-month ban is too harsh. One player gets a three-month ban for smoking cannabis (Rupeni Caucau's case) while these three get six months each for drinking alcohol. What is the message we're trying to send here to the players is it better to stop drinking and start smoking?"

WAISALE Serevi, the man nicknamed Small and who mesmerised the rugby world for almost two decades with his extraordinary skill and talent in the abbreviated code, has resigned as coach of the national sevens team.
Arguably, the greatest exponent of the abbreviated code, the man who initially earned $30,000 and had it cut to $22,000 annually in his player-coach role with the world champions, said his exit had nothing to do with the perks he collected and he had not ruled out a return.
Serevi (pictured) leaves soon for South Africa to pursue a contract with Valkes in the Currie Cup competition. On whether he'd take up another offer to coach another nation's sevens team, he said: "It's not all about money. It's about pride, prestige and honour that I have for my beloved country and its people.
"I can go on to coach overseas at club and other levels and probably in 15s as well but never at the national level, no matter how big the offer."
Serevi denied he was forced to quit following allegations of "mismanagement". But he did hint that his relationship with the Fiji Rugby Union was at a crossroads.
"I don't want any more fuss or bother. And to stay away from that, it's in my best interest to resign," Serevi said. "I'd like to thank God for the talent, the people of Fiji for their support, especially the kids, Wayne Pivac for giving me another chance in 2005, my wife and children for their support and my apologies to everyone for leaving abruptly." .
FRU board member Viliame Varasikete said Serevi "voluntarily resigned". "He tendered his resignation, saying he wanted to pursue further business and sporting offers and we accepted that," Varasikete said. FRU chief executive Ratu Timoci Tavanavanua wished Serevi all the best.
"He's a legend in his own right," Ratu Timoci said. "His contribution to rugby in this country can never be understated. I am sure he will remain an icon for all hopeful young players for many, many years to come."
On behalf of everyone involved at the Fiji Rugby Union, I'd like to thank him sincerely for his unparalleled work in the game." Ratu Timoci has been asked last week on why Serevi's pay was cut. "Serevi was asked to work as a full-time employee and he failed to do that thus the deduction," Ratu Timoci had said.

IT always is a sad moment for anyone to see national sporting heroes hang up their boots.
It is hard to accept that after so many years of making us proud to be citizens of this nation with their achievements on the world sporting stage, a day has to come for them to give it up for the last time..
The bigger and more loved they are, the harder it is for fans to let go. Such has been the reaction of many who love and idolise rugby sevens maestro Waisale Serevi after hearing he has resigned from the Fiji Rugby Union as the national sevens coach.
Serevi has told FRU board members after discussing reports on this years International Rugby Board Sevens series that he wants to pursue other goals. The Union has accepted his decision and later paid tribute to his achievements and contributions to the sport, adding, as if to soften the impact of his departure on his many fans around the country and abroad, that he is a legend in his own right.
And of course one can expect his decision and the response from the FRU to dominate public debate in the coming days. How it will end only time can tell.
But the Gau Island man, since donning the Fiji jumper for the first time in the match against the Australians which featured the legendary David Campese at the Sydney Sevens in March 1989, has become a household name in this nation. Not too many sportspeople can achieve that feat. In fact very few national sporting heroes have had so much influence in our lives and in the life of the nation as Serevi.
Patriotism, pride and passion drove him to the top level and each time he was up there, he made sure everyone knew he was proud to be from Fiji.
Now that he has opted to leave Fiji rugby, he could very well re-consider some of the offers from overseas clubs who had been interested in his services but who he had to turn down because Fiji always comes first. While he has not completely ruled out returning home at some stage in the future to take up some sporting role or another, we all agree at this stage that he has given this nation more than one could expect.
And for that we say Vinaka vakalevu Serevi. We wish him all the best in whatever he now plans to do. We put our hands together for him as we would anyone who had gone or will go the extra mile to proudly promote this nation on the world stage with pride.
Because of his achievement Serevi deserves to be among the countrys most marketable athletes of all time and we pray we wont be seeing his back for the final time.
Nations have their own sporting legends who they pamper with adoration and accolades because they have in abundance star qualities which set them apart from the rest of us. They have their Pele, Muhammad Ali, David Beckham, Ian Thorpe, Don Bradman, Tiger Woods and the like. We can boast that we have Serevi.

えーと、最初の記事の主要な内容は、（１）セレビは、２００９年の７’ｓのワールドカップまで、７’ｓの監督兼選手を続けたいとＦＲＵに申し入れたが、ＦＲＵは既にセレビの７’ｓ監督解任を決定している模様、（２）セレビは、Ｗライダー等３人のプレーヤーが受けた６ヶ月の試合出場停止処分を批判し、彼らがビールを飲んだのは（フィジーが破れ、ほとんど決まりかけていたシリーズ優勝を逃がした）ウェールズ戦の前夜ではなく、ロンドン７’ｓ終了後であると述べた。
２番目の記事の主な内容は、セレビが（１）フィジーの７’ｓの監督兼選手を辞任し、おそらく南アのクラブチームのコーチになるであろうこと、（２）ＦＲＵの役員がセレビが「自ら」辞任したことを発表しとその功績を賞賛したことです。
ただし、その後のニュースによれば、セレビは、実際には南アには行かず、デジセルという携帯電話サービスの会社のサポートを得て、フィジーに残って草の根のラグビー・タレントの開発を行うことになった模様です。
３番目の記事は、セレビの功績の賞賛が主な内容ですね。
ＦＲＵは、国民からの批判を回避するために、セレビを解任せず辞任に追い込んだ、ないしは、ＦＲＵの態度に嫌気がさしたセレビが自ら辞任したように見えますが、フィジー・タイムスには、そうはっきりとは書いてないですね。
セレビが、サウス・パシフィック・ゲームに、フィジー代表選手として招聘される可能性が残っていますが、どうなることでしょう？
