Workshop description for Slow & Serpentine:

Duration: 2 hours
[Slow & Strong] uses multiple fusion combinations to focus on steady and smooth transition techniques for complete body fluidity. You will learn the power of smooth, slow movements through a variety of shapes and poses. As we focus on the muscles between the muscles, and through a variety of shapes and poses inspired by Indian temple dance while using backbends and level changes, our class will culminate in a slow tribal-fusion choreography.

Duration: 2 hours
[Serpentine] is a study in the sultry and strong movements that comprise slow tribal dancing. You will earn the flexibility and strength required to make slow, fluid movements that drip from combination to combination. Bellyrolls, half-sided belly isolation, and reverse bellyrolls will be featured as well as how to integrate these subtle muscular isolations into movements that read strongly on stage. Liquid arms and body flow, facial and hand _expression, as well as maintaining a strong posture from the upper back are emphasized. You will learn control and isolation while dancing with the grace and strength required for slow techniques. Visualize receiving movement through one part of your body while keeping the audience’s attention as you send it out to create _expression from your face through your fingertips.Emphasis will be placed on laybacks, flexibility, and some floor-work. Kneepads are recommended.

Workshop description for Girls Just Wanna Have Fun & Emotional Release:

Duration: 2 hours
[Girls just wanna have fun] (pop choreography: Saad Prince of Shabi Album Bat Bat song) - this is a fun Sha'bi choreography great for the dancer looking to expand her dance repertoire with something that is easy to remember and upbeat! Petite Jamilla breaks down the movements in combination format before putting the choreography to the music. This class contains footwork, simple turns and traveling steps.
Bring ballet slippers, jazz shoes or socks in case the footwork bothers you.


Duration: 2 hours
[Emotional Release] (Single Veil Choreography: Collide by Beats Antique) - Explore a moody interpretation of the silk veil in this personal choreography created by Petite Jamilla. There will be a breakdown of the choreography in combination format. This class is filled with one handed, and long side usage techniques. Bring your silk rectangular veil.
