Ultra Exposure will explore the continued relevance of the 1970 Osaka Expo for thinking about the future city and the potential of design and technology to instigate positive change. This symposium will feature architects, artists, historians and theorists concerned with our understanding of how seemingly fleeting spectacles - like the fantastical architecture of world’s fairs, the seductions of new gadgets and the euphoria of imagining future utopias – determine the expectations we make of the present in both significant and enduring ways. A Gallery Reception with wine will take place in the JANM Lobby at 3:30pm. Be sure to RSVP at www.ltdesignweek.com

Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of conversation (“chit chat”), PechaKucha rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. Featuring 48 leading contemporary voices with “Future City” as its thematic focus, LTDW PechaKucha Night will be a dynamic, multi-faceted presentation of visionary cities and city life. Emcees include Mark Dytham and Astrid Klein (PechaKucha Founders) as well as Barbara Bestor and Mohamed Sharif.
