A famous ex-Japanese professional baseball player and now active baseball commentator, Mr. Yasumitsu Toyoda, is visiting Los Angeles. On this occasion the Consulate General of Japan proudly hosts A Lecture and Discussion with Japanese Baseball Legend Yasumitsu “Samurai” Toyoda on Sunday, July 1st.

Mr. Toyoda was one of the most valuable professional baseball players in the 1950's and earned the nickname “Samurai” for his uncanny ability to come through in the clutch with hits and catches. He is now a renowned baseball commentator, major newspaper and magazine columnist, and author. At this lecture he will be discussing the societal role of baseball in Japan and the United States as well as what sets professionals and amateurs apart. Mr. Toyoda will also touch on how he has seen U.S. - Japan relations change throughout his lifetime and on his own role as a “Baseball Ambassador.”
