Tata Tei: North Indian traditional Kathak Dance (a rare chance to see this very beautiful dance tradition. Afet Collective: Contemporary Oriental Dance. Afet Collective are one of Tokyo's most talked about belly dance groups blending contemporary tribal, traditional and other influences into their own dynamic performances. They are also a charity and most of their earnings go to great causes. Casablanca Group: Live Oud and Darabuka with traditional dance. Group leader Mohamed Domnati is "the" darabuka player in Tokyo. His virtuoso performances are amazing to see and when combined with Paul's oustanding Oud playing this is a group not to be missed. RainInEden: This band is an inspiring blend of electronic music and traditional instruments form along the Silk Road. Shamisen, Persian Santoor and Chinese instruments blend in exotic melodies.
Event Theme Imagine travelling along the ancient Silk Road. On a warm summer evening you are invited to attend a performance by your fellow travellers. In the the setting hours of the sun the music and dance begins with sounds and visions from the far to middle eastern ends of the Silk Road.
Come join us for a unique experience. Laila Wa Nahar, Night and Day is an evening along the Silk Road. Listen and you'll hear the sounds on instruments from distant Persia (Santoor), China (Ruan), Turkey (Oud), Arabia(Darabuka), Japan (Shamisen) and more. Watch and see Kathak dance traditions from the royal courts of ancient India, belly dance from the tents of Arabia and the master player of darabuka and artists of henna, paint and magic.
Your are invited to enter our tent and join us from the setting sun to the watchful eyes of the evening stars. Travel to a distant time and place and join us for Laila Wa Nahar at AndZone Gallery at Shinjuku Gyoenmae. Admission is 2000 yen including one drink. Space opens drom 5pm with a 6pm start.
