「試練に会った時には、喜べ！」

「試練を喜びなさい」と聖書は教えます。

試練は、とても苦しく耐えがたい体験です。試練が来た時、「おっ、来たぞ! ヤッター!!」なんて思う人はまずいません。

試練を喜ぶ理由は、試練がその人に忍耐を与え、完全な人にしてくれるからです。

試練を通してのみ、どんなことにも動揺しないで、正しい道を歩み続ける、完全な人に近づくことができるのです。

天国ではいのちの冠をいただくことができます。ここに試練を大いに喜べる理由があります。

今、試練の中に置かれている人もいると思います。今、試練を経験していなくても、いつかは試練に会います。

試練に会った時、次のヤコブ書の言葉を思い出して下さい。試練を喜び、すべてを感謝し、忍耐を貫き、完全な人にさせて頂きましょう。

私の兄弟たち。さまざまな試練に会うときは、それをこの上もない喜びと思いなさい。
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

信仰が試されると忍耐が生じるということを、あなたがたは知っているからです。
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

その忍耐を完全に働かせなさい。そうすれば、あなたがたは、何一つ欠けたところのない、成長を遂げた、完全な者となります。
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

あなたがたの中に知恵の欠けた人がいるなら、その人は、だれにでも惜しげなく、とがめることなくお与えになる神に願いなさい。そうすればきっと与えられます。
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

ただし、少しも疑わずに、信じて願いなさい。疑う人は、風に吹かれて揺れ動く、海の大波のようです。
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

そういう人は、主から何かをいただけると思ってはなりません。
For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

そういうのは、二心のある人で、その歩む道のすべてに安定を欠いた人です。
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

貧しい境遇にある兄弟は、自分の高い身分を誇りとしなさい。
Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:

富んでいる人は、自分が低くされることに誇りを持ちなさい。なぜなら、富んでいる人は、草の花のように過ぎ去っていくからです。
But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

太陽が熱風を伴って上って来ると、草を枯らしてしまいます。すると、その花は落ち、美しい姿は滅びます。同じように、富んでいる人も、働きの最中に消えて行くのです。
For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

試練に耐える人は幸いです。耐え抜いて良しと認められた人は、神を愛する者に約束された、いのちの冠を受けるからです。
Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

だれでも誘惑に会ったとき、神によって誘惑された、と言ってはいけません。神は悪に誘惑されることのない方であり、ご自分でだれを誘惑なさることもありません。
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

人はそれぞれ自分の欲に引かれ、おびき寄せられて、誘惑されるのです。
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

欲がはらむと罪を生み、罪が熟すると死を生みます。
Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

愛する兄弟たち。だまされないようにしなさい。
Do not err, my beloved brethren.
