トリニダード・トバゴ。

朝、目覚めると木々より差し込む強い日光と高い湿度、そして鳥類の強烈な鳴き声を聴くと、そこが赤道直下の南国であることを認識させられる。
昔々、1980年代に数度訪れたことがある中米ベネズエラの北に位置するカリブ海の島国。

15世紀にコロンブスにより再発見され、その後支配者が目まぐるしく変わったことから、スペイン語、フランス語、オランダ語の名称が複雑に人名や地名に混ざる。人種も複雑に交じり合い微妙な国家形成がなされている。公用語は英語。また資源輸出国であるので結構裕福ではある。

店の名前は忘れたが、カリブ海料理はここが一番美味しかった記憶がある。
チャンスがあればもう一度訪れてみたい国の一つである。

Trinidad and Tobago！

I had visited this Island country locating at north of Venezuela, consist of several islands.
Discovered by Columbus in 15th century and occupied by many European countries so that complicated place and person’s names. But most of people are rich because of Oil exportation.

In the morning, you wake by bird noise, strong sun shine and high humidity, so that you will find you are in Caribbean Island close to Equator.
Though I do not remember the name of Caribbean restaurant, the best Caribbean restaurant was there.

If I have any chance, I would like to visit there once again.
