彼の存在は、国内ではSilver voice of Russiaいわれる。

代表的なコンサートプログラムは、vintage Russian city romance, Classical Russian romance, folk songs, songs of war; songs, romances and vocal pieces by foreign composers.

次に、Pogudinの代表曲 - "on the knolls of Manchuria"の社会背景とその意味合い。後半では、その詩を英訳。

In February 1905 russian Mokshanskiy regiment was encircled by japanese army near Mukden. Regiment-commander was killed. And when the forces of those defending were on the outcome in the rear of regiment suddenly began to play the regimental band, headed by bandmaster Shatrov.
Music gave to the Russian soldiers force. Regiment breaked the ring of encirclement. Entire regiment left living only 7 musicians of the orchestra - all other soldiers were killed.
In 1906 bandmaster Shatrov (he survived) wrote this song, which is devoted to his killed friends. This waltz became popular from year to year. At the end of World War II (1944-45) the waltz "on the knolls of Manchuria" was broadcasted on radio and became the most popular among soviet soldiers.
