I went to see a movie. The title was “BABEL”. Maybe it is a story of the Old Testament. This movie is complicated, and it's not a popular entertainment.
The story unfolds at the same time in four countries, Morocco, the USA, Mexico and Japan. One child of Moroccan shot an American woman, and it was just an accident. This story starts from this accident, and “an accident” may be the keyword of this movie.
In Morocco the husband of an American woman appealed to the Embassy for help, but the Embassy doubted of terrorism. Their two children stayed in the USA, and a Mexican nurse looked care of them.
The child of Moroccan had a new rifle, and one Japanese gave it to a Moroccan when he went to Morocco for hunting. This Japanese has one deaf-mute daughter. His wife killed herself by the rifle.
The relationship between parents and children may be the main theme of this movie. A family is the most important for us, and it's tossed back and forth by an accident.
By the way there was wide wasteland in Morocco and Mexico, but there were many skyscrapers in Tokyo. Maybe skyscrapers are “BABEL” in the modern world, but I felt somewhat out of place. Wasteland was more natural for me.
