Information Re: Fanla Arts Festival, Lolihor
North Ambrym Island 19th – 20th July 2007
Please note specific Kastom ceremonies will take place during the festival which will only happen once this year, – so please book in advance to not be disappointed!
The following Prices have been negotiated with the consultation of the Chief’s and Organisers of Fanla Village, the Lolihor Development Council and Tourism Task Force, and Volunteers in Lolihor North Ambrym Island.

A Charter Flight has been organised with Air Vanuatu for those wishing to charter a plane on Wednesday 18th July 2007.
It is possible to organise Charter Flights to Craig Cove West Ambrym – please ensure you telephone to book a boat to North Ambrym for the Fanla Arts Festival on (+678) 48405/48687/48710 and ask for Isaiah Bong or Laan Douglas or Yeokon Alexandra.

If you have an International Ticket you are able to receive a discount on your island airfare with Air Vanuatu. The boat is a 2 – 4 hour boat rise from Craig Cove Airport dependant on the weather.
The Lolihor Development Council Boat, managed by the Council of women will be booked for the dates of the Festival to ferry passengers from Craig Cove Airport in West Ambrym to Fanla/Ranon/Ranvetlam Villages in North Ambrym. You can walk from West Ambrym – however the walk can take up to 2 days depending on the weather.

Dress Please ensure you dress and act culturally appropriately during the festival period in North Ambrym. All women are advised to wear skirts covering their knees, in respect of Women and Custom Culture. Please ensure you also respect the Villages of North Ambrym at this time as all people of the Lolihor community are welcoming you to their island home.
Tour Guides
Tour Guides will be provided through the Lolihor Tourism Information Centre at Ranon Village. Please ensure your guide is certified, and wearing his/her name badge. Please do not hesitate to contact us for more information; we are currently working with the Lolihor Development Council, Lolihor Tourism Task Force and Fanla Village.
Food Island Food varies dependant on the season. Water will be provided by Fanla Village for the duration of the festival.
