Halifax Regional Police and the RCMP are urging caution due to a tainted batch of the illegal synthetic drug ecstasy (MDMA) that is being sold in the region. Already, several young people have ended up in the emergency room under very serious conditions, with at least one still in hospital.
Because the patients come from different parts of HRM and are not known to each others, police believe that the tainted batch may be quite large. Health Canada is currently testing samples to determine what chemicals are causing the ailments.
Ecstasy is a dangerous substance, and those who deal the drug almost never know for certain what chemicals may be included.
