My best way of learning English in Japan is reading.
But it is different from "reading" in any classes in a school.
The books must be easy, comfortable and fast to read!

In the way of reading, people just have to enjoy reading.
So they have to choose easy books which they can read
comforatbly and speedy with no dictionally.
And they make a cycle of readying: read→enjoy→read→enjoy・・・
The enjoying cycle makes it possible to keep reading and
keep touching English everyday.
Actually, people need to keep touching everyday to
get used to be English.
So the people who try this reading method have to choose
easy books for them and read books everyday.
Enjoying is the key factor of keeping it everyday.

The another reason to choose easy books is the speed.
Choosing easy books is for improving a speed of understanding English.
People can improve their speed of reading English books
by keeping reading everyday.
It means they can improve a speed of understanding English itself.
Imagining to talk with English speakers,
We don't have to use any difficult words or complex sentesces
in daily conversations.
In stead of them, we should communicate so speedy; understand
the idea of other people immediately and reply.
Quite high speed is necessary for a natural communication.
And Keep reading is very effective way to improve a speed of understanding!!

I believe that the reading method improved my English skills that
I can understand about a half of native speakers conversation in their
natural speed and I can talk with them in English, anyway.
And I could borrow English books from my English teacher for free.
I guess it is a big point.

However, the best way of learning English is living in English country.
I wanna go really.

I read.
I read the same English text at least 2 times. For the first time, I refer dictionary and concentrate on its grammer. For the second time, I don't use dictionary and try to remenber each word and think myself "if I were the author, I could write this sentence in this way or not?". Most of the time I can't write text in that way but it's useful to find out the huge or tiny differences between me and native writers.
Thank you for reading my journal.

I couldn't believe this method at all, when my theacher taught me first.
It was a foolish idea for me to read so easy books.
And there are some teachers who don't agree with the method indeed.

But I believe in it now.
And what I hope for you, who have red my journal,
is to just keep the idea in your mind.
That's enough for me.
Thank you Bob ,for your journal.

I read.
I really agree with you.

I have been reading Asahi Weekly for more than five years. When I got started to read that paper,it seemd a litte bit difficult for me. But now, I can read the newspaper within an hour and half.I think it's important to keep on reading like what Bob said.

And do you know "SSS"method?

There is a community of "SSS" in mixi.
That 's the same method of Bob's.
To start reading from a easy one, and gradually to read a more difficult one (that you can understand.)step by step.By "SSS" method,it is said you can understand English when you read English around one million words.

I will try to read English everyday.
>maro
The "SSS" method seems simular with mine.
I learned it from my English teacher,
so I suppose these are same one.

Surely, we raise levels of books gradually.
I started from level one and now read level four.
And it took more than a year indeed.

Anyway, it's really intersting and fan,
so very easy to keep!

I think you have been doing a great thing.
To read English newspaper everyday sounds amazing to me!
