Belgian artist and architect Andre Waterkeyn passed away a few weeks ago at age 88 just before the re-opening of his masterpiece's renovation.
It is official, the atomium is re-opening to the public in february 18 2006.
The Atomium which was built for the world fair in 1958 represents a giant iron atom.
