To truly acclimate to a new environment, it is necessary to both understand and be able to manipulate both the language and culture. Without this, it becomes impossible to smoothly navigate different situations that occur in everyday life -- in and out of the office or school. This 6-part series focuses on what is happening underneath the surface and delves into questions like:
- What is really going on during the meeting? - Why is this person behaving this way towards me? - How do people manage to get ahead at work? - What do people think about their careers and life paths? - How do people achieve their goals?
Objectives:
The main objectives of this 6-part series are two-fold: 1) you will have a stronger grasp of how your American counterparts approach a variety of situations that are important for personal and career success. 2) you will have a better command of the language used in these situations so that you can navigate the system to your advantage.
