First of all let me apologize for the long email.....
We are still looking for families who are willing to host our Japanese kis this summer. There are 46 kids still left to place and I have 3 weeks to find all the homes. I also need homes for one male and 4 female chaperones (they stay in a home for two weeks) Please help us by either hosting or forwarding this email to all your friends and family. Last week I placed one child....sad... I have 30 girls and 16 boys of various ages. I am attaching list of the girls and boys still waiting for homes. Look them over (look all the way to the bottom!) and let me know your top THREE choices (number and age) and I will hold that child for your family. Please read below...
Premium International Exchange (P.I.E.) is an organization that helps Japanese children ages 10-21 spend one month in Utah with host families. During this time, these children learn about American life and culture. The children*s English skills vary from speaking very little to being able to communicate fairly well. The ability to speak and understand English is not a requirement for coming.
A host family takes a child into their home for one month and makes them a member of their family. The child becomes involved doing family chores, playing games, going of vacation (if the family goes on vacation), going to church, etc. No special trips are a requirement for hosting.
To be a host family the family needs is a child who is within two (2) years of the Japanese child. If you have a 12-year-old child, you may host a Japanese child ages 10-14. The other requirement is that they are the same gender.
This year the Japanese children arrive July 21st and attend a 3 day camp. In this camp, they do crafts, go swimming, and have an opportunity to play games, ride a horse, and go fishing. On July 24th the families and Japanese children will meet at an “orientation.” After a short meeting the Japanese children go with their host family homes until August 18th. Each year the time is a little different but only varies a few days.
After the home stay on August 18th, the families then bring their Japanese child back for a “departure” meeting and say good-bye. It is a time of memories and often tears. These children become part of the family very quickly and hold a special place within the family’s hearts.
This month program is an excellent way to bring another culture into your home and to learn from others. Children have a unique ability to work through the language barrier to communicate with each other. Games, family photo albums, movies, etc. are great “ice breakers” and allow the communication to begin. Most Japanese children read more English than they speak. Drawing pictures also helps with communication. Keeping the children busy is most important. Many of these children are young and for a few days homesickness can set in, however that can be quickly overcome. These Japanese children are simply that “children.” Most are eager to learn and have a good experience with their host families.

Anyone interested in hosting can look them over and send me their top THREE choices (number and name please!) in order of preference and I will hold the first one available for them. They should email me at p.i.e._llk@q.com.
I am also attaching a letter that explains our program, the dates, etc. To host a family must have a child within two years (a 12 yr old can host a Japanese child 10-14) Our dates this year are July 24-August 18. Families will pick their exchange children up at 4 p.m. in Clearfield. I will send them a letter that gives all the important info.
I am also attaching a host family application. It can be filled out on the computer, save it and email it back to me.
We also have three chaperones who need host families for August 5-18. I am attaching their bios at the end of the youth. Anyone can host a chaperone (even if they are Japanese!) I just need to know who they would like to host. They also need to fill out the host family application.

PLEASE help us find someone to host these cute kids! We need to find them home by Saturday as they all have orientations in Japan Sunday and it is soooo SAD to be the only child there who does not know who there host family is yet. I am listing them below...
