funny, i know i spelled it wrong, but you know what i mean, right? well, if you can grasp this concept, i believe that you can see why the english education system in this country is such a failure.

we dont talk the way textbooks insist we do!

the teacher will ask the student "what are you going to do today?" and as soon as the lesson is over, the same teacher will call their buddy and say "whudiya gonna doduday?"

do you not HEAR the gap between reality and the textbooks? if reality reveals we all speak with accents and contractions, then how come every textbook ive ever scene entirely ignores the issue?

this seems to be a small community so far, but if you agree, or disagree, id love to hear some feedback!

Hi there! My first time to visit and write here. I do hear the gap and I understand what you are saying. That is why "listening" portions of Japanese schools are improving compared to 20 yrs ago... with ALT in schools, etc. But there should be lots more improvement so that people can really utilize English more rapidly. However, I also do believe that getting acquainted/familiar with correct grammar is important as well. However, again, trying to understand grammatical words, and analytical explanations just on text books do not at all connect to speaking English fluently. I don't know which text books in particular you are talking about but I think they need to be revised with more conversation contents. Have a nice day!!
