The second day in Osakishimojima island.
江戸時代以降、御手洗は潮待ち・風待ちの港町として賑わった。現在も江戸後期から昭和初期の建物が数多く残ることから1994年に全国で38番目の重要伝統的建造物群保存地区に選定された。
Since the Edo era, Mitarai prospered as the port town for the world wide trader's ships to wait for the favorable wind and tide. There have been still protected and listed buildings left from the early Edo to Showa era designated as an important cultural buildings. Also Osakishimojima had been known as an old key junction of salt trade and courtesans 'Oiran' in licensed quarter until the Showa 30's (50's).
