Maika Kobayashi Bio:
Born in Tokyo, on November 10, 1986.
An illustration artist with precise hand-drawn realism style by
acrylic color. After graduated from an art academy in March 2009,
started a career as freelance illustrator. The same year in September,
started to seek "my own world" as an artist and has been putting more
emphasis on artistic activities. Literally, a "Fledging Expresser."
Believe in the analogue style painting on Kent paper stretched on
woodenpanel. There will be more and more opportunities to introduce
the art works with exhibitions and events at home and abroad.


"Fusion" - Dream and Nightmare well blended, no border from
reality.Sky and Earth well blended, no difference between the universe
and the sea. Xanadu. My imaginary world.

When in university, I drew a majestic drawing on piece of my notebook.
Someone said, "You have a style like the artist I know." So I got
interested and bought the artist's book. The grace was beyond my
imagination. I might have drawn like that artist, but I wasn't
standing on the same field at all.And that made me frustrated and sad.
I was thinking how wonderful the artist is, and I reached to the point
that the feeling could be put down as "Love." But that is such a
well-worn cliche. "Love" is not enough.It is mixed with a teaspoon of
jealousy, half a teaspoon of anxiety,
and little bit of envy. Of course, the word "Love" is not bad at all.
But it is not fun being trapped in the word itself.
I don't want to allow myself to say something like"I dunno how to
describe it." I wish I could invent a suitable word, but alas, JIS
code won't let me do so.
So, I decided to put those feelings into my paintings. I decided to
leave the university I was going and switched to an art academy, where
I can become the expresser of "Inarticulate Feelings" in myself.
Ballooning ego, that is a bottomless well. Black water, White water,
Blue water and Red water, turbid or clear I skim them from the
well.With those waters I paint what I want to paint, in my rhythm, in
my way.

And when that is not taken only as my selfishness, I think I am really
blessed.That will be my place to belong. I have to appreciate that.
Even though everybody may be a liar.
