Which is a better place to study? To live?

Some people say the West coast has a better lifestyle, but the East coast has more tradition. What do you think?

east coast or west coast... well, that's what i'm thinkin' about very seriously right now...
i just graduated the university last month and thinkin' about to go to america asap for study.
at first, i thought west coast is better for me, but i heared that if i really wanna improve my english skill, east coast is better...
so how do u think? which is better?
