・do you tend to codeswitch more when you are in a certain mood? (ex. angry, sad, happy, depressed, etc.) ・which language are you or do you think you are dominant in? ・do you find codeswitching normal or abnormal? ・were you brough up in an enviroment where codeswitching was common? ・do you find it hard or challenging to not codeswitch?
-If you are asked to not doing codeswitching, do you think you can do it perfectly?
-Where/When/From who did you learn both languages?
-When you write something as you likes, do you tend to codeswitch?
For those who are conscious of codeswitching:
- when/with whom do you intentionally prevent yourself from codeswtiching, i.e. talking to your advisor, distant relative (usually elderly), a young child, a monolingual friend/job buddy, etc.
For those who are not conscious:
- when do you find yourself struggling for words when you consciously/intentionally talk to someone in strictly one language?
How do you select which language to use when talking to someone?
...i.e. when I talk to someone about something very logical and I want to try and sound as objective as possible, I try and use English. On the other hand, when I want to convince someone re: an interpersonal conflict and try to incorporate my feelings without sounding too strong (a nice balance of emotion/POV and logic) I may be more comfortable in Japanese.
(So this would be a question regarding your emotional state, audience, and purpose/topic surrounding lg choice. )
Perhaps the use of the word "codeswitch" can be eliminated from the Pre-interview Questionnaire, and the experiment can be explained to the subjects as "an experiment on bilinguals."
